本作新加入了两个模式，一个是“效忠模式”(Fealty Mode)，玩家可以宣布效忠另外一个玩家，成为另外的玩家的同盟国或者附庸国，还有一个模式为“拔河模式”(Tug-of-War Mode)，这个模式需要在3张、5张甚至7张地图上进行战斗，在对方的大本营地图上战胜对方才算胜利。 游戏加入了三个新的全球性战役，可以使玩家体验人类历史上最为伟大的战争，从法老王时期到拿破仑统治时期。
